About the Institute
Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, formerly known as V.S.S. Medical College and Hospital, situated by the side of the Hirakud Dam, began its march to eminence with a spirit of nationalism and an urge to serve, educate, and innovate. Its present stature is the culmination of the tireless efforts of countless men and women who contributed under both favorable and challenging circumstances.
This rural medical institution continues to nurture many aspirations yet to be realized. Catering to the healthcare needs of Western Odisha and adjoining regions of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, and keeping in view the rapid urbanization and industrialization in the vicinity, the institute requires continued expansion and state-of-the-art facilities to uphold its tradition while meeting emerging challenges. It strives to provide a balanced blend of preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative services to society.
The unremitting zeal, devotion, and professional competence of its medical and paramedical personnel ensure that graduates imbibe the ethos that âWe Touch, God Heals,â and dedicate themselves to serving humanity with compassion and empathy.
